How the Physicians diagnose RSD?

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Causalgia as it is also known is a progressive disease of autonomic nervous system. The symptoms are based on pain in various parts of the body, especially the extreme parts. Severe pain is caused by abnormally high level of impulses flowing along the sympathetic nerves in the body and could even cause physical deformity.

Like the treatment of any other disease, RSD Treatment also requires proper diagnosis of the symptoms and causes. Ordinarily, RSD is suspected when pain in the limbs is accompanied with a burning sensation. Such sensation develops long after some injury, whether major or minor, is sustained. In most cases again the pain is worsened by any kind of touch, even touch of the clothes or bed sheet.

The most common affected place in RSD, known as CRPS among the medical scientists, is the extreme parts but at times it could affect both hands and legs. Till date no specific diagnostic taste has been invented for RSD. The diagnosis is mainly based on clinical taste of nerve function, skin, and blood flow.

For exact assessment of RSD Injuries physicians also suggest X-ray and scanning. This would indicate whether some damages have been caused to the bones or the tissues. If no such damages have occurred then the attack is a mild one and the treatment would be apropos to such affects of RSD.
